Elizabeth was born on August 1st, 1935 in North Rustico, Prince Edward Island. She was the eldest child of Charles Edwin MacNeill and Anne Agnes (Arsenault) MacNeill. She is survived by her sisters Carol Ann Probert (North Rustico), Cecelia (Ken-deceased) LeClair (North Rustico) and brothers John (Eme) MacNeill (Grand Barachois, NB), Chuck (Judy) MacNeill (Vaudreuil-Doiron, P.Q.) and pre-deceased by brother Bernard (Shirley) MacNeill (St. John’s, NF).
Elizabeth left home at the early age of 17 to attend Mount St. Vincent University, where she acquired her B.A./BEd degrees. She later attended Dalhousie University where she attained her Masters of Science, in Genetics, 1971.
Elizabeth taught in various schools across Canada, settling in Glace Bay where she taught science at Glace Bay High School. She spent the majority, and latter part of her career in Sydney, teaching Biology at Holy Angels High School.
Elizabeth was an extremely talented seamstress, painter, quilter and knitter. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of ‘Fine Things Crafters’.
Left to mourn are her loving husband Ralph Campbell and daughter Heather (Tony) DalCin (Calgary, AB) and grandchildren Isabella, Samuel and Sophia (all of Calgary, AB). She is also survived by her brother-in-law Clyde (Brenda) Campbell (Sydney, NS) and sister-in-law Carol Marie (Marty) Walsh (Auburndale, MA) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank the VON, Gerardine Bates (personal care), and the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital (CBRH) - especially to the doctors and nurses of Unit C3. Your compassion and care provided to Elizabeth during her most challenging times will forever be remembered by the family.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday August 9th, 2021, 11 am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys with Fr. Bill Burke officiating.
