Peter William Truzzolino passed away on October 29, 2020. He was 89 years old, just one month short of being 90. He is survived by his partner of 37 years Steven St. James. Peter was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey in an Italian-American section called Peterstown.
In 1948 Peter graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth. In 1954 he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Tulane University in New Orleans. From 1955 to 1959 Peter served in the United States Air Force as a captain and pilot in the U.S.A. and Germany. In 1965 he earned a Master of Arts degree at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. For most of his work career he was an advertising executive at Wells, Rich, Greene, Inc. in New York. After retiring from advertising in 1997, he became a teacher in New Jersey and Florida. He had homes in New Jersey, Manhattan, and finally Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he moved with Steve at the end of 2004.
Peter was charming, intelligent, and vibrant. He lit up any room he was in, and made everyone feel like family. Always the life of any party, a captivating raconteur, a connoisseur of food and drink, and a real lover of people and life. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He will never leave our hearts. I love you. I cherish you. I wish you infinite peace.“ I will see you in the light of a thousand suns, I will hear you in the sound of waves, I will know you when I come, as we all will come, through the doors beyond the grave.*”
A viewing will be held on Monday, November 09, 2020 at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Avenue, Union, N.J. from 2pm-6pm. There will be services at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church, 971 Suburban Rd. Union, N.J. at on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at 10:30am. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, 1900 Galloping Hill Road, Kenilworth, NJ.
