It is with profound sadness that the family of Dolores L “LuLu” Lopez announce her peaceful passing on November 10, 2020 at the age of 88 years. She is survived by her loving husband, Florentino Lopez, Jr.; children, Mary K. Dellinger, Stephan A. Lopez, Philip J. Lopez, Lisa A. Lopez, and Teresa M. Villanueva and spouses and significant others and Michelle Quijas; grandchildren, Stephan X. Lopez, Christina M. Lopez, Andrea Villanueva, Adam Lopez, Nicole Villanueva, Danielle Dellinger, Joshua Dellinger, and Davin Gordon; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and honorary family members.
Our mother was born in Horton Kansas too Cenobio and Margarita Lozano. She married our dad, Florentino “Tino” Lopez, Jr., in 1955 and began a life as a military wife traveling to Spain, Louisiana, Knob Noster Missouri, Michigan, and back to Missouri. While in Michigan she completed a life-long dream to graduate from high school at the age of 39 from Gwinn High School.
Lulu was very much loved where she was an elementary school secretary for the Kansas City School district. She was also an original member of the Secret Pal Club.
A visitation will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3333 Broadway Blvd. Kansas City, MO 64111, on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A celebration of our moms life will be held at a later date when it is safe to get together. We will require the Covid-19 requirement of wearing a mask and checking your temperature during the funeral.
