Nancy was born to Eugene C. and Betty T. Harvey in Orlando, Florida, on July 1, 1957.
Nancy was blessed with a pretty face, a beautiful smile, innate intelligence, and an abundance of personality. She was easy to love and she easily loved. Following college, Nancy integrated these qualities with her rapidly maturing, proverbial ‘people skills’ and began her lifetime journey in the service industry. Nancy’s progression in the business world, though often leading her through uncharted or unexpected twists and turns, was marked by an ever-increasing growth of responsibility, successful performance, innovation, and integrity. Her reputation was spotless; she quickly learned, adapted, and overcame change to stay on top of her business, as well as somewhat informed of the business of those in her community. When not engaged in her work life, and more often even when she was, Nancy was a dedicated and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and best friend. Family was her life and her family was with her at the end of that life.
Nancy spent her last 12 years working for the Coakley & Williams Hotel Management Company as the General Manager of the Royal Mansions Resort in Cape Canaveral, Florida. In this capacity, she led the resort to unprecedented levels of owner and customer satisfaction, personally ensuring the completion of required tasks, often by performing them herself. Perhaps most significant during this time was the relationships that Nancy established with the NASA Public Affairs Office. She was personally responsible for the care and feeding of a continual parade of senior NASA personnel including astronauts and their families staying at the Resort while visiting the Cape for a shuttle launch.
Not surprising, given the vagaries of her life well-lived, Nancy managed to acquire and bravely battle an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer.
Though we will never again be whole without her, we encourage you to bridge the void in humanity engendered by her loss. Simple actions will serve to memorialize Nancy more than words ever will: love others as you love yourself; suffer the little children; and paraphrasing St. Francis, honor and assist all animals as they are brothers of man through creation.
Nancy is survived by her sons Nick (Nicole) Lucchesi, of Orlando, Florida, and Kyle Lewis of Port St. John, Florida; brothers Lawrence M. (Terry) Harvey of Orange Park, Florida; Richard E. (Darlene) Harvey of Titusville, Florida: and sister Karen Shamlin of Merritt Island, Florida. Perhaps her proudest achievements were her grandchildren Adalyn Rose and Jaxon Cole Lucchesi, of Orlando, Florida.
