Amelia was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to the late David Alan Patterson and Karen
Patterson Horton. Her survivors include her mother, Karen Horton, and her two precious
daughters, Julia and Sophia Schuerenberg, of the home. Survivors also include her Aunt
and Uncle, Glenn and Cathie Pettus of Marshall, Arkansas; her Aunt and Uncle Ken and
Janelle Burch and cousin, Phillip Burch, from Sikeston, Missouri, along with her
extended family, which includes the family members of Tom and Karen Henzi; Lynn and
Regina Lewis and the late Mike Burch. Other survivors of special note are her
co-workers at Petco in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and family friend, Howard Dale Voss.
Amelia was preceded in death by her father, David Alan Patterson; her grandparents,
J. B. and Melba Horton; and Arnold and Ruth Patterson Clark; as well as her beloved
Aunt Eva Horton Pettus.
Amelia was an employee of Petco in Cape Girardeau and was well known for her love of
all living things whether they be human, feathered, scaled or furry. She had a special
connection to nature and you would always find her surrounded by creatures great and
small. However, her greatest love and devotion was to her two sweet daughters.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 19th, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at Nunnelee Funeral
Chapel in Sikeston, Missouri, with funeral services to begin at 11:00 a.m. and delivered
by her Uncle, Rev. Dr. L. Glenn Pettus. Burial will follow immediately at Evergreen
Cemetery in New Madrid, Missouri, with Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in charge of
arrangements.
