Of Dartmouth. It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rhoda Marie Borden at the age of 84. Mom passed away peacefully on November 11, 2020 in the Dartmouth General Hospital with her husband, son and daughter by her side. Born in Halifax, the daughter of the late Sarah and John Meade, she grew up in Tufts Cove. As a young woman, Mom worked for Leon Neima’s Jeweller and The Royal Bank. She joined Beta Sigma Phi where she made life long friends with her sorority sisters. After raising her children she returned to working, first at Woodlawn Medical Clinic and later retiring from MicMac Dental. Although she enjoyed their second home and friends in Bradenton Florida, her Dartmouth home was where her heart was. She loved entertaining family and friends, enjoyed a good laugh, and was often the life of the party. She was devoted to her loving husband, Bob, for 66 years and to her children, Brenda Borden (Allan King) of Dartmouth and Bob (Cheryl) Borden of Fletcher Lake. Her pride and joy were her grandson, Robert (Shelby) Borden and granddaughter, Taylor Borden. Over the last four months being GG to great-granddaughter, Lincoln Jane brought her great happiness. Mom is survived by her sisters, Marg Swinimer, Joan (Joe) Martin, Jackie Simmons, and Charlene (Allie) Starr. She was predeceased by her sister, Minnie Corney and her granddaughter, Jessica Borden. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be no visitation and a family service. Donations in Mom’s memory can be made to Feed Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
