Bon voyage Odile ! On est et on sera toujours ensemble ! Que tu nous manqueras ! On t'aime !

________________________________________________________________
It is with deep sorrow that Odile Dallaire’s family shares the news of her peaceful death on November 12, 2020, at the age of 89. Dear wife of Gérard for 67 years, mother of the late Michel and of Louise, mother-in-law to Ellen, Odile was also the daughter of the late Henri Lafleur and the late Bertha Joly.
She gave everything she had to life, always. Never holding back, never hesitating. Those of us who loved her cannot fathom where this dedicated woman found her fire and her strength.
She taught us, cherished us, guided us, nourished us with dreams and adventures and all the possibilities life could offer. Breaking down walls for us, crashing through barriers as needed, she set us forward on paths to worlds we hadn’t imagined. Above all, she loved us.
Simple things, and true—what could be touched with a fingertip or conveyed with a smiling gaze or a tender gesture—these were what she sought, and what she valued.
Now Odile’s gaze is elsewhere. She has closed her eyes for the last time. And we, once strangers to the subtle shadows that now invade us, struggle on, our gazes travelling over landscapes made suddenly tortuous by heart-wrenching—yet welcomed—memory.
She has left us, our Odile. A grand exit, grand and final, yet quiet and without fanfare; an exit in her own image. Despite our turbulent emotions, we dare to believe that she is entering a place of profound calm: the place that welcomes souls who are born generous, whose unforgettable laugh bursts out at just the right moment—that laugh we recognize instantly, that laugh at the centre of all we have lived and known.
Bon voyage, Odile! Despite your absence, despite how our hearts miss you, we are always with you, our dearest love.
