Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Thomas P. Williams.
She was born in Boston,Tennessee on March 8, 1937.
She was the daughter of Malcolm R. Hassell and Ruth Moize Hassell. She is survived by daughters Rita Anderson (Jerry), Freda Besler (Kurt), Lisa Williams (Daryl Stoever), Teresa Brown (Mark) and son Thomas J Williams.
Alice had sixteen grandchildren, twenty nine great-grand children, four great-great grandchildren.
She attended Dupont High School in Old Hickory, TN and graduated from Branell College in Nashville.
She lived a very full life. She had a love of singing and was a very talented opera singer. She earned a scholarship to Europe but instead of traveling the world, she fell in love with Tom, married and started a family. She did however continue singing opera here until 1968. In her early years, she waitressed at B&B Cafe in Madison where she would frequently entertain the customers with her singing as she waited tables.
Alice was the first female manager of an automotive department for the Zayre Corporation.
She was Tax Practitioner and the cofounder of A & W Tax Service 1973 until 2019 when she retired.
She was an avid bowler for 35+ years traveling to and winning many tournaments across the United States.
She coached Children’s Softball and Basketball in the Old Hickory community children for many years.
She was an avid sports fan and loved basketball and football; her teams were the Chicago Bears and the Titans.
She inspired her team spirit and work ethic to her children and all her grandchildren and was affectionately known as “Memaw” to her grandchildren.
She loved to cook and was most certainly known for her famous biscuits and gravy as she hosted many Sunday morning country breakfasts, dinners and church services at the log home on the family farm in the woods of Ashland City. She touched so many lives with her kindness and always made you feel like you were a member of her family. She loved and was truly loved. Grandsons Josh Williams, Jerimey ( Bob) Anderson, Shawn Gordy, David Gordy, Michael Gordy and Josh Stoever will serve as Pallbearers. All friends and clients are invited to join the family for a celebration of her Life at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 S Dickerson Pike, Goodlettsville, TN 37072. Visitation Wednesday November 18th from 4-8:00 PM and Thursday 11-12:00 PM, funeral service at noon.
