He is preceded in death by his parents; William and Zella Brown; his in-laws, Wanda and Ferdinand Gischer; infant brother, George Brown; and two brother-in-laws, Tom Racine and Tom Travelstead.
Walter is survived by his wife of 63 years, Edith (Gischer) Morehead of Bluford, Illinois. They were married on July 6th, 1957. He is further survived by two children; Mike (Tammy) Morehead of Bluford, Illinois and John (Nancy) Morehead of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, grandchildren; Tawna (Garrett) Brown, Jamie (special friend Bryan) Morehead, Kara (special friend Zac Dean) Morehead, Josie (special friend Jarrod) Morehead, and Haylei (Jeremy) Osborn, and great-grandchildren; Brandon, Jewelia and Zola Scrivner; siblings, Martha Abbott, Vickie (special friend Gene Holland) Scott, Junior (Debbie) Brown, and Nancy Racine. He is also survived by Tracy and Mike Steel and several, other nieces and nephews.
Walter served valiantly in the United States Navy. He later owned, in partnership with Edith, three businesses, including; A and D Laundromat, a taco shop and Walt’s Car Wash. He was a boilermaker Local 363 for 55 years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling around the world, and just being outdoors. Most of all he loved his family and he will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 19th, 2020 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
Funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 19th, 2020 at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois, with the Rev. Roger Wright officiating.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
