It is with profound sadness that on Monday, November 16, 2020, Kegan passed away at home wrapped peacefully in his Mommy’s arms at the tender age of six after fifty months of fighting neuroblastoma cancer
Kegan was born 26 minutes after his twin sister, Kylie Elizabeth, on January 23rd, 2014 in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Mom, Heather Elizabeth MacPherson, took many photos and videos watching Kegan doing the things he loved. Dancing, swimming and playing with his Lego were among the activities that kept him smiling big smiles. Once in a while you could hear him call for his big brother or sister to help him pass a level he was playing on his favourite superhero video game.
He will be dearly missed by his siblings, Erica Jennifer, Ashton Kenneth Richard, and Kylie Elizabeth. He is survived by his maternal grandparents Kenneth Daniel MacPherson and Catherine Erica Thom, his maternal great-grandparents Harry Van Dalen and Reverend Patsy Ann Schmidt. Kegan is also survived by his uncle Steven Richard MacPherson and cousins Faith Liberty and Jasper Theodore, and aunt Jennifer Lee Miller and cousins Logan James, Madison Erica.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020 at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue, Niagara Falls between 11:30 am to 1:30 p.m. by appointment only (905-354-5614). There may be a small delay to maintain safe numbers in the visiting room. Please remain in your vehicle until a staff member invites you to make your way into the funeral home.
Due to Covid restrictions, a Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 27, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel by invitation only. Following the chapel service, interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, 4501 Stanley Avenue, Niagara Falls.
All visitors must wear a mask or face-shield, check in at the entrance, and maintain social distancing during their visit. In memory of Kegan, if you have a superhero mask, we ask that you wear that to share in the joy that he had for his superheroes.
Kegan made many friends and acquaintances during his journey; he thought everyone and everything was so beautiful. Because of Kegan’s love for all things in the world, in lieu of donations, flowers would be appreciated. Please share a memory or story at www.hetheringtonanddeans.com.
