She was the daughter of the late William and Sallie E. Simmons Travis. Her brother Kenneth M. (Doreen) Travis, and her oldest sister, Joan Y. DeLong also preceded her in death. She is survived by four children, Roxana Marie Jackson (James Wright), Nina Elizabeth Jackson, Jeremy Nathanial Jackson, and Sean Micheal Kelly; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; she is also survived by three sisters: Patsy Ellen Johnson, Shirley Ann (Louis) Imhoff, and Alice (Midge) Sylvia Griffith. She married Dean Russell Kelsay in 1997, and he survives.
Edie worked her entire life in the medical field as a caregiver, which included Frederick Retirement Center, Rest Haven Nursing home, and Riverdale Nursing Home. As one of her dear friends stated, “Edie gave so much.” She was the most compassionate lady I have ever met. She loved every resident she cared for as if they were her own mom or dad. That love and caring can’t be taught, it only comes straight from her heart. She was an amazing angel to so many; she always had the right words to say that could fill someone’s heart with love, and her smile could brighten the darkest days.
Edie loved her children and family with such fierceness; she never held back, what you saw was what you got. Some of the many things that she enjoyed doing, besides spending quality time with her family, was listening to music, watching TV, watching birds and squirrels. She also enjoyed watching it snow. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
