Steven Anthony Chapman was born and grew up in Fitts Village, St James, Barbados on 9 March 1952 to Dudley Fitt and Sylvia Brewster and departed this physical life on Thursday November 19, 2020 in Orlando, FL.
Steve (Groover) as he was affectionately called by family and friends in Barbados always had a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He was mission focused, always dressed to kill and constantly on the move, thus the name Groover. He attended Good Shepherd Boys School in Fitts Village and maintained a large group of friends as a teenager; he was dearly loved by family. Steve moved to Brooklyn as a teenager and enlisted in the United States Army on October 20 1972 and served until Sept 28 1984. He earned the M-16 Sharpshooter badge and served in multiple locations in the US and Overseas. During his time in the Army he met and married Sandra and had 3 children, Kenya Chapman and twin sons Aaron and Steven Chapman. After his Army service, he moved to Orlando where he met Colleen Harewood his life partner of the last 31 Years and fathered his youngest daughter Cilleen. Steve was loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Steve is survived by his loving partner Colleen Harewood, his daughter Kenya Chapman, sons Aaron and Steven Chapman and youngest daughter Cilleen Chapman, his grand-daughter Kiahna (KiKi), step-father Godfrey Chapman, siblings Jeffrey, Everton, Cheryl (Sissy), Cynthia (Lanette) and Michael Chapman; his many nieces and nephews and cousins in Barbados and the states.
