Mr. Massey was born in Blue Diamond, KY, son of the late Homer Edney Massey and Mary Lee Blackwell Massey.
Mr. Massey proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He also retired as a manager in the Logistics Department from Lockheed Martin after thirty-five years of dedicated employment. He was a proud and faithful servant of the Lord and an active sixty-plus years member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. He loved singing in the choir and teaching a multitude of different Sunday School classes. He was also a member and former President of the Retired Men's Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching NASCAR, college football, traveling the country and overseas with Leisure Time and the church and tinkering with his old cars.
Mr. Massey was preceded in death by his first wife, Lavinia Massey; sister, Wylene Massey; brother, Jimmy Joe Massey; brother-in-law, Leroy Morris.
He is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, Joyce Winters Godfrey Massey; daughter, Kaye (Gary) White; sons, Steve (Carole) Massey; Mark Massey; step-daughter, Angela (Dennis) Neal; grandchildren, Aaron Massey, Andrew White, Lauren (Jason Smith) Massey, Connor White and Taylor (Lexi) Massey; step-grandchildren, Amy Neal, Dan (Monica) Neal, Alyssa Neal and Jay Neal, Krystal (Brian) Canup ; great-grandchildren, Matthew Shaw, Elizabeth Shaw, Natalie Smith and Logan Massey; sisters, Ruth Morris, Mildred (Lewis) Starkebaum; brother-in-law, Tommy (Carol) Winters; sisters-in-laws, Jeanette (Dennis) Barber and Becky Winters; a host of nieces and nephews; beloved dog, Beau.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 25th of November, 2020 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Poe officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers are Aaron Massey, Taylor Massey, Andrew White, Connor White, Jay Neal and Matthew Shaw.
Honorary pallbearers are the Retired Men's Club.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the evening until eight on Tuesday, the 24th of November, 2020 at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tabernacle Bread of Life Ministry and Bartow Advocates for Children.
