Born July 25, 1950 in Pekin to Jewel and Vera Vivian (Rigdon) McKinney.
Surviving are three sons, Michael (Ashley) McKinney, Nathan McKinney, Rodney Dale McKinney II; one grandchild, Everly McKinney; two brothers, Rick McKinney, Dennis (Kimberly) McKinney; two sisters, Beverly McKinney, Marilyn Dale; many nieces and nephews, and three beloved dogs, Dixie, Stretch, and Blu.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Mike and Ronald McKinney.
Rodney was self-employed for many years in property maintenance.
He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and mushroom hunting. He loved spending time with his friends, family and grandchild. He was a dog lover, and his dogs were his life.
Rodney served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the National Defense Medal, Purple Heart and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He will not only be known as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and son, but as a Proud United States Army Vietnam Veteran.
Burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield will be held at a later date.
Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory Pekin. No services are scheduled do to Covid-19.
