Don was born on December 15, 1939, to a farming family in Birtle MB where his pride and joy was his pony, Babe. He joined the RCMP at the age of 19. His first postings were in the lower mainland BC, followed by Vanderhoof BC; Igloolik, Nunavut; Fort McPherson, NWT; Calgary, AB; and finishing up in Leduc, AB and area. After retiring from the Force Don had a second career with AB Social Services Fraud Investigations until retiring permanently in 1997
Don will be missed by Illona, his wife of 58 years and their four children and nine grandchildren;
Lindsey and Harold Miller; Quinn (Danielle), Daley, Drew, McLean. Leanne and Stephen Dow.
Laurie and Heath Schneider; Tessa (Aaron), Zackary.
Clayton and Becky Baskier; Renna, Brooklyn, Lynae
Don enjoyed many hobbies including skiing, golf, and travel with Illona. He cheered on the Oilers and the Blue Jays and loved a good game of Crib. His extended family and many friends will miss his good-hearted teasing. Don is preceded on his final journey by his granddaughter Daley, his two brothers Ken and Gerald, and his parents.
