Ernie Herron was born on May 01, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the first born of Norman H. Herron and Vinnie L. Herron, who preceded him in death. Ernie experienced declining health and transitioned to be with the Lord on December 04, 2020.
Ernie attended Gillespie grammar school and graduated with honors; he was the recipient of the American Legion Award for outstanding students. After graduating he attended Fenger High School and upon graduation he enrolled in Wilson Junior College. He completed courses in architectural engineering and was a member of the track team.
Ernie was drafted in the United States Army in 1956. After serving two years, including a tour of duty in Korea, he was honorably discharged. After service Ernie continued his education and started his career at Skidmore, Owens and Merrill, one of the most influential architecture planning firms in the world. He had the opportunity to design and engineer the plumbing for several of the skyscrapers in Chicago, IL. Ernie's career spanned several companies until his retirement.
Ernie met Barbara Langston and they remained married until his death. Ernie and Barbara were very devoted to each other and shared many delightful memories.
In their later years Ernie and Barbara divided their time between Chicago, IL and Kissimmee, Fl. They moved to Solivita and as part of the community they became members of the African Heritage Cultural Club and participated in many of the activities while spending the winter in Florida.
Ernie leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife Barbara Herron; one brother, Norman Herron (Shirley); three sisters Barbara Bedford, Audrey Bellamy, Norma J. Miller; and a special nephew Frederick Douglas Bellamy (Diane), and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
