She was born to Alfred and Ethel Harrand on January 7th, 1949. After graduating high school, she earned her teaching degree from Western Michigan University and pursued a career in education. In 1974, she married the love of her life, Daniel Schneider. Together, they had four children, Christopher, Abigail, Rebecca and Amelia.
Rita was defined by her faith in God. A life-long member of St. Mary of Hannah parish, she dedicated herself to the betterment of both the church and school. Rita was a selfless woman who always put the needs of others before her own. She loved raspberry pie, being warm and spending time with family. She will be greatly missed.
Rita was preceded in death by her father and mother, her step-father, John Brayton, her son Christopher, and her sister Lorraine Miner. She leaves behind her loving husband Daniel, her daughters Abigail (Christpher) Bylin, Rebecca (Ryan) Major, and Amelia (Justin) Gil, her beloved grandchildren, Clara & Calvin Major and Theodore Gil, her sister, Barbara Bogart, her close niece and nephews, Kate Rothwell, Jake and Gabe Bogart and Rick Miner, as well as many other relatives and friends.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Rita on Thursday, December 17th at Noon from St. Mary Hannah Church. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial immediately following at St. Mary of Hannah Cemetery.
