Robert is preceded in death by his parents Nesbit and Eunice Powell, his brother Courtney, grandson’s Christopher & Brian, and two best friends Alan Macintosh & Frank Morris.
Robert, a father of six children, Gregory, Wendy, Jeffrey, Judy, Carol, and Kristin, also five stepchildren, John, Ellen, Caroline, Frank & Sarah.
Robert is survived by his wife Adela Powell, his sisters Barbara Schmidt and Judi Howard, his 14 grandchildren and 13 step-grandchildren, a total of 20 great grandchildren, and 14 step-great grandchildren. He loved them all.
Robert worked as a Project Engineer for 29 years at Humphreys Precision Instruments. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, running & Padre games with his good friend John Prendergast. He ran many marathons including the Boston marathon. He loved photography and always carried his camera ready for anything.
Robert loved family and get-together's and was always ready to play with the little ones, and they loved him back because he was a lot of fun. He is truly loved and will be forever in our hearts.
Robert's internment of ashes is at Miramar National Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 virus, services will be postponed and announced at a later date. Feel free to contact the family with questions.
