He married Dorcas Jean Miller on November 16, 1958 in Toney Alabama. Alton graduated University of Tennessee of Nashville. He retired after 33 years with the Air National Guard, serving as a flight nurse, as a Registered Nurse retiring after 14 years with Baptist Hospital, and finally as a Fire Inspector after 40 years with the Metro Fire Department. While he was at Metro Fire Department he was known as "Doc Aldridge". Lt. Col. Aldridge was a veteran of the Vietnam War, and Desert Shield & Storm and served in the U.S. Army, Air Force, and Tennessee Air National Guard.
Alton Aldridge is survived by Dorcas Jean Aldridge his wife of 62 years, Heidi Jenkins (Lance) and Tabitha Myers (Phillip): brothers William (Bill) Carlton and Kenneth Aldridge, Grandchildren Ashley Hoffman, Rachel Jackson, Leslie, Caleb and Ethan Myers, Breagyn and Cora Jenkins and great-Grandchild Lilith Hoffman. He is equally blessed with children of the heart Alice, John and Michael Yokosuck and Mary Dell and Dan Robinson.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from four until seven o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
A Graveside Service will be held at two o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the Historic Mount Olivet Cemetery with the Russ King of Donelson Church of Christ officiating.
