ALBRIGHT, Darryl Luther – age 78, passed away peacefully in the Lincoln Hospital, Davenport, WA, December 18, 2020. Darryl was born on March 11, 1942 to Edward & Winifred Albright in Gowanda, New York. After moving to western Washington, he attended school in Auburn, WA and graduated from Auburn High School in 1960. He enjoyed playing basketball and tennis in school. He joined the United States Navy on August 25, 1961 and served until August 12, 1965. After leaving the Navy, Darryl met Shirley Harvey on September 11, 1965 and they were married on June 11, 1966. He worked at Boeing for a while and then joined the Sheet Metal Union Local 66 in 1972 and became a Sheet Metal Journeyman. He retired in 2004 to live their dream in Lincoln, WA. Darryl and his wife lived in Federal Way, WA and had two boys, Darrin (1971) and Damon (1973). They purchased their retirement property in Lincoln, WA in 1990 and built their home there in 2004 where they resided full-time. Darryl had a nickname of “Do-Dad” because he always enjoyed being busy either building, fixing or creating. He also enjoyed golfing with his many buddies at Big Bend Golf & Country Club, Wilbur, WA, where he was a member. He particularly enjoyed the “hole in one” he had on the 6th hole. Some other activities he loved were boating, staying nights out on Lake Roosevelt, along with camping and rooting for the Gonzaga Bulldogs Basketball team. Darryl was loved by everyone he met. He was kind hearted, patient and very generous, always thinking of others.
Darryl is survived by his wife Shirley, in Lincoln, WA, sons Darrin (Shayla) Albright, and Damon (Stephanie) Albright, along with granddaughter Maryssa (D.J.) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and brother Larry.
Due to Covid-19 there will be no services at this time. The family will announce services at a later date. Strate Funeral Home, Davenport WA is caring for the Albright family.
