He was born in Rockville Center, Long Island, NY on October 1, 1949 to Charles T. & Margaret (Healy) Hawkins. He grew up in Massapequa with his 6 siblings, and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History at Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland.
Venturing out to the mountains of Colorado, Tim made a simple life for himself there that brought him joy. He proudly worked as a bus driver in the Vail resorts for 40 years. He enjoyed skiing, old movies, and especially the early mornings. Tim continued to relish history, always learning and willing to share with his friends and family regularly. He tended to be introverted, but had a contagious laugh that would burst out joyfully, especially in response to a quick retort, or an episode of the Three Stooges. He hopes to be remembered as a patient man, learning from his seasons of life. He communed with his siblings humbly in his final days, and passed peacefully in their loving Care.
Tim was preceded in death by his father, Capt. Charles T. Hawkins, Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret “Peggy” Hawkins; siblings, Charles T. Hawkins, Jr. (Barbara), Nancy Heffernan (Michael), Kathy Sanford (Fred), Charlotte White (George), Margie Brandes (Robert), and Dorothy Trotta (Steve); many adoring nieces & nephews; three great-nieces, three great-nephews, and one-on-the-way.
A Memorial Mass will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church in Orlando, Florida on January 14, 2021 at 10:30am with a reception to follow at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Gotha, Florida. Tim will be laid to rest at 2:30pm at Fountains Memorial Park in Homosassa, Florida.
