She loved learning and graduated Valedictorian of her High School. On April 10, 1948, she married Albert Moody. They later had one son, Robert Moody, who was the light of their life.
Julie spent over 20 years as secretary to the Colonel of an Army Depot. She loved her career, but was happy to retire and spend time with her husband and family. Julie was a skilled seamstress. She spent many hours lovingly stitching quilts, doll clothes and other handmade items for family and friends. A lover of words and spelling she could often be found solving crossword puzzles. Her favorite past time was gambling. Julie and her husband enjoyed annual trips to Las Vegas. Between those trips you could find her at the Casino Queen or Alton Belle.
In 2016 Julie left her lifelong home in Wood River, Il to move to Sugar Land, TX where she could be closer to her son and Granddaughters.
Being born in 1926 Julie lived through times when food was rationed and her loved ones were sent to war. Her last 9 months were harder, scarier and lonelier than necessary. She died from COVID, in a world where many of her fellow Americans refuse to wear a piece of cloth on their face to protect one another.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Al Moody and son, Robert Moody. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter in law, Kathy Moody, granddaughter Jennifer Wilder and her husband Rafael Wilder, granddaughter Ivy Meek and her husband Jeremy Meek, great granddaughter Lyra Jane Meek and great grandson Max Robert Meek.
Julie's family would like to thank all of the essential workers who have been in the front lines of the pandemic. It is because of them that the family was able to be in touch with Julie over the last 9 months. Their tireless efforts kept her safe and kept her company. Due to COVID-19 the family has decided to forgo any services. In lieu of flowers please donate or do something kind for an essential worker in Julie's honor. Please stay safe and remember to wear a mask.
