Dorothy E. Holland, age 96, of Collins, Iowa passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny, Iowa. She was born June 27, 1924 to Donald and Marie Titus in the rural Colo, Iowa area. She graduated from Collins High School in 1941 and from there went on to attend AIB Business College. Dorothy married Dick Holland of Collins on December 12, 1947 and together raised four children. They spent their first couple years on a dairy farm in Edgerton, WI. They then moved back to Collins and lived for the next 21 years.
Unfortunately, Dick was killed in an automobile accident in 1971. Dorothy was an organist at Collins United Methodist Church in the 60's, belonged to the Order of Eastern Star, and was a member of three bridge clubs. She spent most of her career working for the USDA Disease Laboratory in Ames, until her retirement in 1988.
Dorothy is survived by her four children, Denny of Ankeny, Roger (Dalene) of West Des Moines, Gail (Mike) Hensch of Iowa City, and Marsha of Des Moines; her blessed grandchildren, Capt. Jacob (Becky) Hensch of Pinehurst, NC., Zachary (Tara) Hensch of Tingley Park, IL., Emily Holland (fiancé Dan Flynn) of St. Paul, MN., and Katie Holland of Bloomington, MN.; three great grandchildren and one on the way; her brother, Bob (Alta) Titus of Collins; many nieces, nephews and many great friends.
