Here is where he met the love of his life, Susan, and soon settled down into a happy home in Casselberry. The birth of their son, Michael, came in 1990 and the picture was complete. Neighbors would often hear Wes exclaiming, “Is this Heaven? No, it’s Casselberry, Florida!”
Wes lived his life for the joy and beauty every day would bring. Making and sharing music with his friends was a big part of his life, and he also enjoyed the beauty of nature, including every single sunset, as if it was the first he had ever seen, and his favorite place to visit, “My Keys,” as he would call them. A day playing golf with Michael was always a special treat. Wes was part Southern Gentleman and part “Wild, Wild Wes.”
Wes was everyone’s friend and his family acknowledges the loss we share with all who had the pleasure of knowing him, including his many friends at The Alley and his coworkers at The Home Depot.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Evans Ling and Thomas Ling Jr.; his aunt and uncle, Betty and Paul Chapman; and his uncles, William Evans and Edward Evans. He is survived by his wife, Susan Mendoza Ling, married 35 years, his son, Michael and his aunt Carolyn Ling Gaines .
In light of the current pandemic conditions, we will not be having a memorial service at this time. We will be planning a celebration of his life with the music he loved at a later date. In memory of Wes, please consider donating to the Orange Blossom Blues Society, an organization that he loved and supported. Please visit their website at obbs.org for additional information.
