Allen French Gillum, born December 9, 1939, died December 26, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He is survived by his daughters Catherine McCullum (Dale), Ann Lowry, Melinda Snyder (Tim), Jenny McCormick, 6 grandsons and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Anne Reno (Joe), Rosemary McClellan, and Beth Milton (Roger). Allen is pre-deceased by his granddaughter, Kelsey Snyder, and his parents, Allen Martin Gillum and Mary Gordon Gillum.
Allen graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1958 where he had been a talented athlete for 4 years. He loved football and was an All-Memphis 1st team player in his freshman and senior years. He was an outstanding baseball player on very successful CBHS and American Legion teams.
For over 20 years Allen worked at the Firestone plant in Memphis. After Firestone closed in 1983 he bought and managed Graceland Liquors. He sold the business and retired in 1993.
A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Thursday, January 14, at 11:00 a.m. The family request that any memorials in his honor be made to Christian Brothers High School.
