Lois Charlane French Bolton of Carrollton, Texas passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family on December 24, 2020 at the young age of 92. Charlane was born on January 14, 1928 in her parents’ home on Vagas Street near Maple Avenue and downtown Dallas, Texas.
She was the third daughter of Charles Edwin Benton and Dixie Kincaid Pace Benton. She and her three sisters would form a remarkable bond that would last a lifetime. Together, they would be affectionately referred to as the “Benton Girls”. A reference, they all cherished. Charlane loved Dallas and she spent her entire life living in the greater Dallas metropolitan area. She was also a very proud Texan.
Charlane graduated from N.R. Crozier Technical High School in Dallas, Texas on June 1, 1945. During high school she held several after-school jobs and also found time to correspond nightly with soldiers and sailors overseas during WWII. Many times, she would write 4-5 letters a night. She applied her high school education and vocational training to become a skilled insurance specialist and underwriter. She was respected and loved by her office coworkers and the business owners she counseled and supported. Many of her friends and associates affectionately referred to her as “Charlie”.
She is survived by her beloved children, Clay Youngblood of Plano, Texas; Sherry Kalisz and her husband Paul of Trophy Club, Texas; Stephen Youngblood and his wife Janis of Flower Mound, Texas; and loving daughter through marriage, Cheryl Grant and her husband Jim of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren Veronica Zarola, Vanessa Youngblood, Claborne Youngblood III, Ted Beckstead, Jared Kalisz, Aaron Kalisz, Stephen Youngblood Jr, Austin Youngblood, Kristen Geddie, Michael Youngblood Fitzhugh, Michelle Galvan, Chad Weaver, and Jason Spencer; and many great grandchildren, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Dixie Benton; her sisters Virginia Brown, Dorothy Reagan and Jacqueline Bosler; her brothers Charles W. Benton, and Arnold Benton; and husbands, Jack Youngblood, Charles “Buddy” French, and Louis Bolton.
Charlane was a loving, considerate and compassionate woman of faith and she loved life dearly. She saw the beauty of life as a living testimony to the presence of God. She loved the outdoors and worked in her yard and gardens right up to just months before her passing. She adored flowers and her lawn and shrubbery were a source of pride and enjoyment. She also loved watching the birds and squirrels that visited her outdoor feeders.
Charlane was also a very social person and everyone loved her friendly smile, loving personality, and genuine affection. She warmed the hearts of everyone she was around. She truly enjoyed the times she spent with her fellow “Lady Bugs” as they dinned and celebrated each other’s birthdays together. The doctors and nurses at Baylor Scott & White referred to her as the “perfect patient” and often commented …” we just love her”! Her doctors had tears in their eyes as they discussed her waning situation.
But most of all, she simply loved being with her family and many others she loved. Her greatest pride was in the joy of being a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and passing that sense of love, family and affection to all her family and everyone she touched. She found God’s greatest purpose in being the loving, and adoring mother that HE obviously planned her to become.
She’s now in HIS presence along with her beloved sisters, family, and many friends. We give thanks for the blessing of her life, and joyfully await the glorious time when we too will see her again. God blessed us abundantly when he gave us mother, MeMaw, Charlane, and Charlie!
