Theresa was born to the late James and Angelina Lanzo in Hartford on August 18, 1922. She was predeceased by her husband Dominick in 1985, her sister Mary Galipo in 2016, and her brother Eugene Lanzo in 2014. Theresa was a 1940 East Hartford High School graduate and worked for Underwood Typewriter and Pratt & Whitney in her early career. Once married and busy with her three sons, Theresa managed the cafeterias at O’Brien and Willowbrook Schools so that she could spend summers with her family.
Theresa “with an H,” as she often introduced herself, spent most of her youth attending movies, social affairs, and traveling to the beach with friends and family. Theresa was always most happy to be in the company of her sister Mary and her late cousin, Jean Mazzarella. Later in life, Theresa traveled to Italy, Germany, and Hawaii, while sending many postcards to her family.
Not to be forgotten was Theresa and Mary’s daily trip to Dunkin Donuts for their afternoon social. Together they were part of the fabric that was DD on East Hartford’s Main Street. Theresa was fanatical about having a clean house and showed that same zeal when it came to teaching and playing Skip-Bo with her grandchildren. Newcomers beware.
Theresa is survived by son Peter and his wife Heidi of Avon, and their children Emily and Nicholas; son Paul and his wife Pauline of New London, NH, and their daughters Kerry and Cory Kraucunas and her husband Dan; and son Perry of NY, his sons Sebastian and Alexander and his wife Carly, and their mother Karin Brenner. Aunt Theresa is also survived by five nieces and one nephew, their families, and by her cousin, Josephine Scott. The Savino family would like to send a special warm thank you to Thelma Everett from Seniors Helping Seniors for her devoted companionship and many games of Skip-Bo these past four years in Avon.
