William A. “Bill” McLemore, 82, passed away on Dec. 30. Bill, who was born in Louisville on April 26, 1938, was a proud Manual High School alum and studied engineering at UofL. He was a draft engineer who retired from International Harvester and later worked at Louisville Forge and Gear. Bill was a longtime member and deacon at First Alliance Church and later attended Fern Creek Christian Church. He was involved with the Okolona Little League in the 1970s, including serving as its president, and was a lifelong UofL sports fan. Bill was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Patricia A. (Fisher) McLemore, and his parents, Edward and Mollie (Denham) McLemore. He is survived by his children, Craig McLemore (Valerie), Kent McLemore (Terri), Lisa Thornton (Dan) and Loren Reni Beard (Robert); sisters Velma Baskette and Gail Green; grandchildren Samantha, Tyler, Ryan, Jared (Hillary), Abigail, Kayla, Madeline, Allyson and Seth; great-grandson Owen; and niece and nephew Jennifer Ridings (Tim) and George Green (Julie). His family is thankful to the staff at Wesley Manor for taking care of him, and loving him, for the past three years, and his friends for their help and support.
Guests are invited to attend a visitation from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Arch L. Heady & Son at Westport Village, 7410 Westport Rd., Louisville, KY 40222. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the funeral home with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
