Dale A. Matthias Sr. was born on September 5th 1955 the first Child of Mariet and Christian Matthias (Deceased) on the beautiful island of St. Thomas USVI. He died on January 1, 2021. His Death was sudden and unexpected.
Dale accepted Christ later in life and started worshiping him as his Lord and Savior.
He attended Charlotte Amalie High School where he participated in the school band. He entered the US ARMY upon graduation from High school in 1974, where he enlisted and was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division Band in Fort Hood, TX. He served and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. His Love for music continued throughout his military career.
Upon returning home to St. Thomas from duty, he was still interested in music so he started working as a freelance musician traveling between the two islands playing music for various artists like the Mighty SPARROW Etc. alongside Kent Moorehead. He joined a few local bands such as Brother of Soul, Parliament and Gem-I Brass Band to name a few.
Dale Sr. eventually relocated to St. Croix and started his career with MARTIN MARIETTA where he worked for a few years until the plant closed. When that happened he became employed by the local cable and telephone company VITELCO. Playing and teaching Music was his first Love; So Dale Sr started a new career as a music teacher at the Pearl B. Larson Elementary School on ST. Croix.
On August 26, 1978 Dale married Dawn Galloway Matthias for ten years and settled on the island of ST. Croix. To this union two children were born Dale Jr and Dalia. His son Dale Jr was his best friend, they spoke every day about any and everything. Dale Jr holds the secrets to all the family recipes. His first princess Dalia and him shared the love of music, singing and dancing which was one of their greatest memories. He continued to nurture and take care of his family, until they grew apart and that marriage ended in divorce.
He then met and married Jennifer Browne Rolle for eight years. In 1989 when hurricane HUGO cost devastation to the island they relocated to Florida. To this union a child was born T’Rell and he inherited two Bonus Boys Triston Weeks and Tabarie Henry. The Highlight of his marriage to Jennifer was being able to witness their son Tabarie make it to two US Olympics. He was also so humble to see his Son T’rell travel the world as part of the US NAVY. He continued to cherish his family long after this marriage ended.
His third and last marriage was to Cynthia Matthias-Jones whom he Married on August 22, 2000, with this union came a baby girl Abigail. Dale Sr became a father to her two other children. He helped to give them a stable family and happy home. He was proud to witness his last child graduate from High School. Cynthia and Dale were married for five years and divorced September of 2005.
Dale was kind, caring and always had a pleasant smile. He was a devoted and loving father, companion and friend. Always willing to lend a helping hand and offer advice. He was happiest during occasions when he spent time socializing with family and friends. He loved nothing more than fishing, hanging out and cracking jokes with his family. “Boy” he could tell you some things that will make you laugh until you cry. He was such a straightforward person he gets right to the point “No Chaser”.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted children, Dale Jr, Dalia, T’rell, Abigail Matthias, Triston and Tabarie. His Grandchildren, Dale III, Dante, Daleisha, Deasia, and Demi.

The family will receive friends on Sunday January 10, 2021 from 1pm to 4pm at Haisten Funeral Home with interment to follow at Georgia National Cemetery on Wednesday January 13, 2021.
