She was born on January 17, 1958 in Chattanooga. She faced many challenges but with the love and determination of her family and the lifelong support from Orange Grove Center, she lived a full, happy life.
Nan was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Kathleen Thomas and Lee and Nora Slaten.
She is survived by her parents Gene and Myra Slaten, sister Debbie (Rick) Sparks and brother Ed (Pam) Slaten. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Ryan (Jennifer) Sparks, April (Steve) Gatlin, Hannah (Matt) Soloff, Heath Slaten, and great-nieces/nephews Libby, Sophie, Luke, Jack, Madeline, and Kennedy.
In her early years, Nan enjoyed outings with her family, splashing in her backyard pool, swinging, listening to music, and playing her organ. In later years, Nan enjoyed rides in the car to get her favorite french fries and swinging on a quiet porch. Nan was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church. She will be dearly missed by many.
