Judy was born on January 27, 1955 in Winchester, Virginia. She grew up here in Martinsburg and was a graduate of Martinsburg High School where she was a member of the National Honor Society.
Judy married her high school sweetheart David Melvin Copenhaver Sr. in May of 1975. The couple settled in Martinsburg and have been married for 45 years. Together they raised two children, Anne and David.
Judy spent more than 35 years providing childcare for family and friends. She had a special connection with each family and child that still continues today.
Judy was a devoted wife and loving mother. She loved becoming a “Mimi” and was proud of her 4 grandchildren. Judy enjoyed watching them play baseball, softball, and football. She rarely missed a game. As a matter of fact, Judy was a great softball player herself who played the game until she was 50 years old. Judy loved to cook and gather with family. She enjoyed playing Bingo and making crafts.
She was a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church of Hedgesville. She will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Eugene & Barbara Creswell. She leaves behind her beloved husband, David Copenhaver Sr.; her daughter, Anne and husband Aaron Milton; her son, David Copenhaver Jr. and wife Natalie; her grandchildren: Aidan, Laken, Dru, and Cameron; her sisters: Barbara Jean Creswell, Marilyn Lord, Tamela Chadwick; her brother, Eugene Creswell; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and Friends will be received on Thursday, January 7 from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Rosedale Funeral Home.
Private services for the family will be held at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Hedgesville.
A graveside service will be held in Rosedale Cemetery on Friday January 8,2021 at 2:30pm.
