Phyllis Jean (Ingram) Smith passed away peacefully January 1, 2021 after a long, hard-fought battle with lung disease. By her side at the time of her death was her loving husband of 63 years, Charles, and her devoted daughter, Sheryl. Phyllis will be remembered for her joyous laugh, her love for her family (including her beloved pets), her love of sports, and her kind and generous spirit.
Born on November 17, 1938 in Hereford, Texas to parents Wanda and Henry Ingram, Phyllis grew up with sisters LaJuana, Shirley and Glenda. She graduated from Portales High School in 1957 and married Charles later that year on New Year’s Eve. Son Leslie was born in 1958, followed by Sheryl in 1961, and Todd in 1966. Phyllis and Charles raised their family in Amarillo, Texas and moved to Grand Prairie in 1980 where they have spent the last 40 years.
Phyllis leaves behind her husband Charles, daughter Sheryl Dumas, sisters LaJuana English, Shirley Brannon and Glenda (Bob) Carter, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and sons Leslie and Todd.
Phyllis was a loving wife and mother, a wonderful sister and aunt, and a loyal friend and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
