On Sunday January, 3, Ginger Cecil Jackson, passed away at the age of 66 from complications of her diabetes. Ginger, a career educator with over 30 years of experience, served in Wilkinson County School System as instructional lead teacher at Wilkinson County Middle School, as curriculum director for the Wilkinson County School System and as assistant principal and principal.
Her first 2 years as a teacher she taught music in Athens, Georgia. She taught piano at her home for many years until her diabetes forced her to quit. For a while Ginger also worked as a wedding planner, planning the most beautiful weddings ever. Some of her other life passions were shopping, traveling and decorating for Christmas.
She was an active member in Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Her Christmas decorations in her home were legendary to the point she conducted tours of her home so more people could enjoy them. She and her friend enjoyed going to see Broadway musicals, plays and whatever else New York City had to offer.
Ginger was born on December 20, 1954 to Vance and Wilma Cecil who preceded her in death. She is survived by 2 first cousins, Janis Johnson of Thornton, CO and Judy Lukehart of Payson, AZ. She leaves behind many close friends.
Private graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, January 15, 2021 at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens. Services may be viewed live by visiting www.facebook.com/snowsmemorialchapelbass/
