She was left a widow at a young age and raised her two children, Sig and Siglinde, on her own. She instilled in them good core values, a sense of beauty and a love of music.
She worked at the Municipality of North Cowichan and at Williams and Davies’ Law firm before becoming a music teacher of both the piano and classical guitar. She enjoyed her hiking club, Tai Chi and folk dancing groups; she loved her exercise group and helped to lead it for many years. Swimming in Maple Bay was a delight and she did it well into her 80's. Anneliese volunteered at the Duncan Museum , her grandsons' school in Saltair, and as an assistant to the adjudicators at the Cowichan Music Festival. She was respected and loved by many.
After suffering a stroke she died peacefully with her children and their spouses at her side. She is survived by her sister Margaret Fischer, children Siglinde Ewing (Joe Harris) and Sig Reuter (Jan), 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and niece and nephews of the Kilian family whom she treasured.
