Of Norwood, entered into eternal rest on December 31, 2020 of heart failure at the age of 92. Beloved wife of Richard J. Ross for 64 years. Cherished mother of Richard P. Ross of Beverly, MA. and his fiancee Valerie Carnevale, Carolyn R. Emmons and her husband Timothy of Acton, MA. Proud grandmother of Jeffrey Emmons and his wife Elizabeth of Greenwich, Ct., Alison Ross of NYC, and Alyssa Emmons of Acton, MA.
Great grandmother of Lillian Patricia Emmons. Daughter of the late Peter Torlone and Maria(DeAngelis) Torlone. Devoted sister of Flora Gregory, Virginia Goggin and the late Dorothy Chiappini. Loving aunt of 10 nieces and nephews.
Norma graduated from Medford High School in 1945. She was a long time employee of HUD and past treasurer of NARFE #107 Norwood.
She was a very active member of the Norwood Senior Center where she enjoyed exercising, playing mahjong, and singing in the glee club. She was an Extraordinary Minister of the Holy Communion at St Catherine of Siena Parish and would give Communion to the sick at Norwood Hospital. She also loved to sing in their choir.
Norma was a devoted Red Sox fan. Many a summer night, she would watch them on TV
with her husband Rick. She enjoyed hosting an annual Christmas party for her sisters and other relatives. She loved to cook, play cards and read. She was one of the best grandmothers, endlessly proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments.
Norma will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Norwood Council on Aging 275 Prospect St. Norwood, MA. 02062.
