Shirley was born in Greeley on September 18, 1928, growing up in the Briggsdale, CO community all of her childhood and youth. Most of her adult life was lived in Greeley, CO. Her father and mother were Roy and Frances (Causey) Washburn. Shirley attended all 12 years of Elementary and High School in the Briggsdale School. She was an active member of the Briggsdale and Weld County 4-H Clubs during her youth. Shirley attended college at “AGGIES” in Fort Collins, which is now Colorado State University.
On June 12, 1949, Shirley married Charles Gilbert Dressor. Shirley was working for the Weld County Health Department in 1949. Their marriage was blessed with two children; Diane Del Dressor of Evans, CO, and Terry Clark Dressor of Newcastle, WY.
Shirley was a former member of the member of the Home Demonstration Club and was a 4-H Leader for a few years when her children were young. She also taught Sunday School for several years as well as being an Assistant Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.
In the 60’s and 70’s, Shirley took some secretarial night classes with what is now Aims Community College. Then, in February 1966, Shirley went to work at a secretarial job for Colorado State College where she remained for nearly 22 years. Most of this time was spent with the College of Human Performance and Leisure Studies at what is now the University of Northern Colorado. She retired in October of 1987.
Shirley was an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church. As well as singing in the church choir, she enjoyed most music and played her home piano. Her retirement years were spent on her home and yard, some community volunteer jobs, some travel, and MOSTLY SHARING LIFE with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Dianne Dressor of Evans, CO; her son Terry Dressor (Lana) of Newcastle, WY; grandchildren Sara (Dressor) Winslow (Chris Sr.) of Casper, WY, Dana (Dressor) Curry (Jason) of Crystal Lakes, CO, Randi (Meeks) Bocanergra (Carlos) of Severn, MD, Gannon Meeks (Nikki) of Douglas, WY, Westen Meeks of Wright, WY, Nolan Lee Meeks (Berdeena) of Casper, WY, Joanna (Meeks) Edwards of Douglas, WY; and by 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held starting at 12:30 with services to follow beginning at 1:00 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
