Gale Davis passed away 02 January 2021. Due to COVID pandemic, funeral services will be private at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa, AL.
Daddy was born on 21 July 1935 in Leicester, NC. He grew up with his sister Linda and family in the mountains of North Carolina. Later they moved to Baltimore. Daddy spent much time working with his grandfather Papa Gibbs on the farm in Leicester, NC. He went on to college at Western Carolina University, where he met the love of his life Patricia Gayle Ingram. They married and moved on to UNC-Chapel Hill, and then UGA where he earned a PhD in Biology. After several other stops, they moved to Tuscaloosa, AL, in 1969 with their three boys.
Daddy was a retired Biology/Genetics professor at the University of Alabama. He was active in Boy Scouts with his sons. He loved the outdoors, camping, and traveling. After retiring, Mom and Dad traveled the country in their RV, enjoying camping and square dancing. Daddy was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He loved and is loved dearly by all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Gale is preceded in death by his father Louis Willard Davis, mother Wanda Gibbs Davis, and wife Patricia Ingram Davis.
He is survived by his sister Linda Davis Fischer, his sons Carl Davis, Hugh Davis, and Christopher Davis (Pam), his grandchildren Lauren Davis, Andrew Davis, Kirsten Davis, Lindsey Davis, and Brooke Davis Beck (Blake), and his great granddaughter Addie Blake Beck.
