Born April 19, 1951 in Peoria to Orval Roscoe and Willena Theresa (Markwalder) Reeder, he married Claudia J. McDaniels on May 27, 1989 in Pekin. She survives.
Also surviving are twin daughters, Amber (Anthony) Breitzman-Oedewaldt of Chillicothe and Charity Gullett of Pekin; one son, Tyrone (Stephanie Tegtmeyer) Gullett of East Peoria; five grandchildren, Cole Gullett, Tanner Hall, LaRynn Breitzman, Cameron Gullett and Caleb Oedewaldt and six sisters, Sue Reeder of Pekin, Annee (Ron) Wallace of Peoria, Sara (Gary) Baker of Pekin, Janet (Dick) Young of Creve Coeur, Evie (John) McBride of Lebanon, Ohio and Mary (Chris) McMann of Lewisville, Texas. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Marian McDaniels Allen of Pekin; two sisters-in-law, Kate (Peter) Baumann of Roscoe, Brenda (James) Hanerhoff of East Moline; his brother-in-law, Randy (Kendra) McDaniels of Pekin and many nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
He was a United States Army veteran serving during the Vietnam era.
Mark worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for more than 30 years as an electrician. After retiring from Caterpillar, he then worked for the City of Pekin as the Electrical Inspector for more than 10 years, retiring in 2015.
An avid golfer, Mark was an active and long-term member of the Timberlake Club of Peoria where he held many leadership positions including President of the Board of Governors. He also was a member of the Caterpillar Retirees Club and Pekin Moose Family Center #916. He also enjoyed fishing.
He was a member and served on the Board of Trustees of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin.
His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin. Pastor Daniel J. Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Guidelines regarding social distancing and masks will be followed. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and Tazewell Military Rites Team.
