Lea Esponge Broussard, a devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother, sister, friend and "Nana" to so many, gained her heavenly reward of eternal peace at the young age of 56. She is reunited with her loving parents, Robert and Carolyn Dubois Esponge; her grandparents, Fernest and Verna Dubois and Lorris and Olive Bertrand Dubois; and her nephews, Joshua Brett Esponge and Jon Cade Clemons.
Those left to cherish her memory is her husband, Gil Broussard; her daughters, Kallie Migues Moneaux (Lucas Gautreau) and Lanie Broussard Boyle (Patrick); her grandchildren whom she adored and loved beyond all measure, Kalob (girlfriend, Sam), Kahlin and Isaac Moneaux, Adley and Beckett Boyle; her brothers, Robert Joseph Esponge, Jr. (Tina), Brett Esponge (Monica) and Andre' Clemons (Dawn); nephews and niece, Robert Esponge, III (Katelyn), Seth Esponge (Leah), Cameron Esponge, Tyler Clemons (Tori) and Lauren Clemons; great nieces, Kinlee, Clara, Caraline and great nephew, Kade; her aunts and uncles, Linda Jabbia (Peter), Norma Lee Gaspard (Donald), Trois Dubois (Janet) and Roland Esponge (Barbara); and her brother and sisters-in-law, numerous cousins and dear friends.
Lea, affectionately known as "Nana", was born January 14, 1964 to Robert and Carolyn Dubois Esponge. She was a proud graduate of Delcambre High School Class of 1982, where she was recently working in administration. Prior to this, Lea worked in various positions with the Delcambre Police Department, Fruit of the Loom, McIlhenny, Caneview Elementary, Action Specialties and as a personal caregiver. She was the type of person to bring a smile to your face and left a lasting impression of kindness, love, and generosity.
Some of her favorite pastimes was dining out at restaurants and shopping with the girls. Above all, her best times were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Rest peacefully Lea. We love you always.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, January 9 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Buddy Breaux will be the celebrant. Following the mass, Lea will be laid to rest with her parents at the church mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed that evening. On Saturday, visiting hours will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church from 9:00 am until time of mass.
Serving as pallbearers are Kalob and Kahlin Moneaux, Robert Esponge, III, Seth Esponge, Patrick Boyle and Chris Bowen. Honorary pallbearers are Isaac Moneaux, Beckett Boyle, Cameron Esponge, Jhy, Tren and Trey LeBlanc, and Jacob Broussard.
