Darlena Kay Allen, age 72, passed away on January 7, 2021 In Dallas, Texas. She was born on December 20, 1948 in Haskell, Texas to Elbert Eugene and Dorthie Naomi Hill. Kay was raised in Clyde, Texas near Abilene. She married Leroy Allen on October 30, 1964 and the couple had three Children.
In her spare time, Kay enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a great cook and was known for her homemade pies and cakes. She wanted nothing more after her and Leroy married than to be a mother…and she was a great mother to her three kids. During the summer months, Kay would love to get into the pool and enjoy the sunshine and swim to help her ailing body. Kay was known to not only take her own kids, but also her nieces and nephews swimming all summer long and she loved every minute of it. She taught many kids how to swim and even some how to drive. She loved children and loved to teach them. Kay devoted her life to the Lord. She was not only born, but lived her life knowing that if it weren’t for the grace of God, she wouldn’t have been able to live the life she did. She spread the word of God throughout her life and attended church regularly. Kay faithfully served at Centerpoint Church for many years. She loved well and was loved…especially by the kids she regularly taught in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and Awana. She was the matriarch and heartbeat of our family. Kay will be missed, but we can take comfort in knowing that she is in heaven with her heavenly Father and no longer has the afflictions she had on this earth. Her family and friends will always remember her as a kind, devoted, mother, wife, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed, mourned and never forgotten.
She is preceded in death by her: father, Elbert Eugene, Mother, Dorthie Naomi, Sister Barbara and Brother James.
Kay is survived by; her beloved husband Leroy, daughters Kelly and Angela, son Clay, daughter in law Kimberly and grandson Austin, and sister Ann
