Jessie B. Brown was born on April 19, 1941, in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the union of the late Lucius and Eva Richardson. She was the 7th of 10 children who would lovingly remind her siblings that she was special as number “7”. At a young age, Jessie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at New Mount Olive Church in Isola, MS.
Jessie attended Tepper Elementary School in Isola, MS and graduated from McNair High School in Belzoni, MS in May of 1958. After graduation, she followed two of her older sisters to Caruthersville, MO where she met her husband, Leroy Kimble. After marriage, the couple moved to Lansing, MI where they became the proud parents of two sons and a daughter, Michael, Marvin, and Jacqueline Kimble. Their marriage dissolved and many years later, in March of 1985, she married Robert Brown.
Dedicating her entire career to the medical field was evidence of how Jessie loved to serve others. She also volunteered with the State of Michigan, Department of Social Services. Although she worked hard, she was classy and sassy, poised, and very fashionable. She loved gardening, cooking and feeding family, canning and playing Bingo. She will forever be remembered by her beautiful smile that could light up any room.
