Robert Hugh Patterson, age 57, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on January 1, 2021. He was a loving husband and father, a talented musician and minister, and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
Hugh is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Tammy Patterson; and his sons, Robert “Bobby” Charles Patterson, and Bradley Patterson both of Tallahassee, Florida; his mother, Julia Jean Patterson of Clemson, South Carolina; sisters, Lynn Easler (Steve) of Hendersonville, North Carolina and Lucy Coates (Sam) of Greenville, South Carolina; brother, Ellis Patterson of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Cecil Patterson; and his brother, Charles Daniel “Danny” Patterson.
Hugh completed his undergrad studies at Mars Hill College in 1986. He then attended Southwest Baptist Theological and Seminary, where he studied music and conducting. His Masters of Art in management came from University of Phoenix and he was pursuing a Doctorate from Capella University. Hugh was employed at Black Knight Financial and was also the Worship Pastor of Jacksonville Heights Baptist Church. He was also the current Director of the Don Thompson Chorale. He has served many churches throughout his life in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas.
The family will hold a private funeral service, with Reverend Donnie Elkins officiating. When the Covid 19 virus is under control the family will hold a gathering to celebrate Hugh’s life with music and memories in Jacksonville, Florida. His final resting place will be in Clemson, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to; Jacksonville Heights Baptist Church, Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
