Raised in a traditional Catholic home, Nancy’s faith was an important part of her life. On November 13, 1954, she was united in marriage with Thomas Sorrelle at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, the church of Nancy’s childhood.
Raising a family of nine children kept Nancy busy, however, when the last child left the nest, she spent several years helping Tom with his insurance agency, handling the accounting for him.
Nancy loved playing cards and was involved with several bridge clubs over the years. Her children and grandchildren will remember the fun and memories made when they regularly caught her cheating during their frequent card games. Nancy was athletic when she was younger, and the competition of sporting events led her to being a lifelong sports fan, cheering for her favorite teams, especially the Detroit Tigers, Notre Dame, and the Detroit Pistons. However, Nancy is going to be best remembered for being dedicated to her family and faith, and being a woman who found the value of forgiveness.
Nancy is survived by her children: Michelle Jennings, Robert (Valerie) Sorrelle, Renee (Bob) Batt, Darrell (Lynda) Symanski, Patrick (Amanda) Sorrelle, Andrea VanHeck, Jennifer (Tom) Overly and Aimee (Melvin Church) Sorrelle; her daughter-in-law Kim Sorrelle; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and her brother Tom (Yoshi) Crowley as well as many other relatives. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her son Stephen Sorrelle, great-grandson Louis Sorrelle and her siblings: James Crowley, Helen Paas, John Crowley and Katie Walsh.
