Funeral Service: 10 AM, Friday, January 15, 2021 Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Shirley Ann Blanscet was born July 5, 1943 in Roswell, New Mexico to Calvin and Mae J. Hobbs. She met the love of her life Tom Blanscet and they married in 1958. Shirley and Tom later moved from Lamesa, Texas to Wichita Falls in 1966. She began her career in banking in 1968 at Parker Square Bank as a teller progressing to Assistant Cashier and Officer of the Loan Department. She also worked at First National Bank and First Bank in Wichita Falls with the officer rank of Vice President at both locations. Shirley was the recipient of the Association of Bank Women Helen Henry Scholarship award 1990, 1991, 1992, Outstanding Graduate, Compliance Management University of Texas, North Texas Women’s Hall of Fame, Business Category, recipient of the Texas Bankers Association, “Education Award”, along with many other awards. She retired in 2015 from First Bank as Vice President of Compliance with a total of 47 years in the Wichita Falls Banking industry.
Shirley was very active in the community in many areas. She served as President of the Women’s Soroptimist Club, volunteered for March of Dimes, United Way, Muscular Dystrophy, Adopt a Family Christmas Project, Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, Wichita Falls, Museum and Art Center, Hotter than Hell One Hundred, and South Side Girls Club.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Betty Williams and Dorothy Meeks; grandson; Sgt. Collin Blanscet USMC.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Tom; children, Terrie Lynn Harwell and husband Rex and Ricky Scott Blanscet and wife Tammi; grandchildren, Sgt. Casey Blanscet USMC, Kyle Blanscet, Calvin Ryan Harwell and wife Jamie, Clinton P. Harwell and wife Elizabeth and Tara Harwell; great grandchildren, Cole and Sadie Harwell and Emery, Rivers and Bohdie Blanscet and many beloved nieces, nephews, sister in-laws and friends.
The family would like to thank the teams at Hospice of Wichita Falls, and No Place Like Home for their compassion, love and support during the past few months.
