Michael H. Taylor, 64, unexpectedly signed off on a well-lived with few regrets life January 9, 2021. His loving heart was a beacon of light for all who knew him. Thankfully, Huey P Taylor and the late Mary Lou Hudson Taylor provided a bundle of joy, loving unique man. Being up for the challenge he led and fine tuned his prankster quality on his sister, Susan Taylor. Some 15 plus years later he melted with adoration when Jennifer Melton followed by Jamie Turner were born.
In Mike's formative years he attended the Nazarene Church with his beloved grandmother Carmel Hudson, Uncle Waylon, Aunt Pauline, cousins Gail and Sharron Attaway. As a small child he was fascinated by Jesus enduring through often his lifetime. He mentored his son Jason and daughter Taryn to follow the word of scriptures and be a good person. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, uncle and amazing grandfather. He leaves a legacy of three talented grandsons Ben, Jayden and Carson.
Michael graduated from Northwood High School in 1975. He then worked for Libbey Glass alongside his Mother for over three decades as a machine specialist. Many a chuckle we have shared over Mother insisting on providing his lunch through the years as though he was still in school. He loved it and she did, too!
Mike was passionate about football passed down the family lineage. His Dad and Uncle Tommy were both Springhill High School Quarterbacks in the days of the famous John David Crow. Dad gave him his first football at the age of 4 and by the age of 5 was teaching him plays. He passed the qualities of sportsmanship to his son and daughter. As a young adult he played baseball and coached little league. He immersed himself in Boy Scouts with Jason and his grandson Carson. He enjoyed many afternoons golfing with the late David Hansen, Sr. When cousin Ian Hudson was available he loved going fishing with him followed by his wife Carol Henry Taylor.
Michael is known for his love of travel, cooking, and knack for making homemade ice cream. Along with his Mother he was the constant for holding family gatherings especially in July, November and Christmas. He will be missed by many family and friends that he has made over his lifetime and the laughter and meals he shared.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Taylor, nephew Jacob Melton and beloved Aunts and Uncles. He is survived by his father Huey P Taylor, wife Carol Henry Taylor, son Jason Taylor, daughter Taryn Taylor, grandsons Ben, Jayden and Carson Taylor, sisters Susan Taylor, Jennifer Melton, Jamie Turner, nephews Christopher Melton, Joey Riggs and niece Jessica Karnes. Also, many cousins and 2 groups of in-laws with a special mention to the mother of his children, Lori Taylor.
The family would like to thank the Paramedics and Willis Knighton North Emergency Department for their heroic efforts to save his life. We also thank friends Elizabeth Marshall, Rob Mahoney, Dad's son-in-law Tim Turner and cousin Judy Nipper for their support.
Michael's Memorial is at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 4 pm.
