Roy B. Truett was born March 25, 1942 in Laurel County, Kentucky, to the late Mae Carr and Jesse Truett. A briar through-and-through, Roy was proud of his home state and the Kentucky Wildcats. The only things he loved more were cars, hound dogs/hunting, and, of course, his family. For over 20 years, Roy managed an auto recycling center in Miamisburg where he worked with numerous mechanics and bolstered a love for cars in many people. While not in a garage or working on one of his own classic cars, Roy loved raising hound dogs and fox hunting. And if there was a soundtrack for his life, it would have to be done by the one and only George Jones, Roy’s favorite country musician.
His legacy will be cherished and carried on by his wife of 39 years, Janice Truett of Miamisburg, Ohio; children Cheryle (Danny) Roberts, Jackie (Todd) Ireland, Karen Loper, Pam Goodwin, Sonny (Colette) Truett, Benjamin Truett (Sarah Rau), and Amy (Brandon) Reeves; grandchildren Phillip Teegarden, Melissa Markgraf, Daniel Roberts, Edward Roberts, TJ Moore, Justin Truett, Joey Loper, Olivia Loper, Scott Truett, Matthew Truett, Michael Truett, Nathan Truett, Daniel Truett, Darren Trenkamp, DJ Adkins, Jessie Adkins, and Kaylin Strauss; sister Eulene Lunsford and brother Lonnie Truett; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, daughter Tish Blevins, sister Wilma Truett, brother-in-law Doc Lunsford, son-in-law Mark Loper, sister-in-law Sheila Truett, and his favorite uncle Rex Ball.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 12 – 2 PM on Friday, January 22, 2021 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Brandon Reeves officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg.
