LeAnn Harris Solomon of Dallas passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021, after a long and well lived life. LeAnn, or “Sug” was born on February 13, 1931 in Mer Rouge, Louisiana, where her father, B.C. Taylor, was a Methodist minister. Her mother, Bernice Lee, was one of seven sisters, from the Lee Ranch in Throckmorton, Texas. Those deep roots of West Texas and Louisiana, abided in LeAnn all the days of her life! In 1948, LeAnn attended SMU and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She met her husband Ned R. Harris and they were married in June of 1951.
LeAnn’s life was filled with friends, family and faith. She and Ned helped establish Ridgewood Park United Methodist Church, and were lifelong members at University Park United Methodist Church. Through many years, LeAnn was involved in various Sunday school classes, building committees, and the “House &Table Tour”. LeAnn was also a member of the Dallas Women’s Club, and the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club.
In 2005, LeAnn married the second love of her life, Tom Solomon, and they were together 15 years. LeAnn said, “Many people do not have one happy marriage, yet I was fortunate to have two.”
LeAnn’s greatest accomplishment was that of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves behind her three sons: Bruce Harris (wife Caroline), Neil Harris (wife Margie), John Harris (wife Karen), seven grandchildren: Brian Harris, Daley Bennett (husband Rob), Benjamin Harris (wife Andrea), Megan Michelson (husband Blake), Kelly Catalani (husband Tanner), Taylor Harris (wife Heather), and Payton Harris (fiancé Anais Nussbaumer), and 10 great grandchildren!
Just shy of her 90th birthday, LeAnn’s long life was an example of unwavering faith, and devotion to her family and friends.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there was a private family burial for her immediate family. If desired, please make any memorial donations to University Park United Methodist Church, in LeAnn’s honor.
