JOSEPHINE “Jo” ANN (née PISZCZ) PYTEL, 85, of Fall River, MA, passed away in the early morning on January 12, 2021, at the Brookdale Sakonnet Bay facility in Tiverton, Rhode Island. She was born November 13, 1935, in Fall River, Massachusetts. Josephine was the daughter of Andrew T. Piszcz and Bronislawa "Blanche" (née Misek) Piszcz. She graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School of Fall River in 1953. For the next 39 years, she worked as a social service counselor for the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, and retired in 1992.
Josephine and her husband loved traveling the world, and especially enjoyed their trips to Poland to visit family and friends. She was very proud of her Polish heritage. She was an accomplished musician and shared her talents by playing the piano and accordion for the St. Stanislaus Parish Polish dance group.
Preceded in death are her loving husband of 56 years, Andrew J. Pytel, sister Wanda Zwolinski, and brother Edward J. Piszcz. She leaves behind her brother, Andrew T. Piszcz, Jr.; 3 children, Catherine A. (and David R. Hague), Janice A. (and L. Donald Flynn, Jr.), and Andrew J. Pytel, Jr. (and Beth Bradford-Pytel); 5 grandsons, David Andrew Hague, Alan James Hague, L. Donald Flynn, III, Brian Michael Flynn, and Joseph Andrew Flynn and several nieces and nephews.
Josephine was an inspiration to us all, always putting family first, believing in the fruits of hard work and conserving, and never losing sight of family heritage. She will be sorely missed, but her memory, kindness, and wisdom will live on.
Due to COVID restrictions, services will be private (family only).
