Charles Thomas Sr., 51, of Davenport, IA, passed away January 11, 2021, at Genesis East Medical Center in Davenport. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport. Guests are asked to follow the CDC’s social distancing guidelines and wear masks. Charles was born March 26, 1969 and raised by Frank and Nazarie (Bishop) Thomas in Illinois. He earned his GED from Davenport Schools. Charles went on to earn an Associates in Applied Science in Accounting as well as an Associates in Business Entrepreneurship from Scott Community College. His education was very important to him and he was currently earning his Bachelor’s from Bellevue University. Charles was very active and involved in a lot of Scott CC activities, such as President of the Diversity Club. He worked at Alorica in Customer Service for several years. Charles was the recipient of a kidney transplant and became a volunteer specialist on the subject to educate and comfort dialysis patients through Genesis. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Charles” to many younger family members. Charles loved gardening, flowers and enjoyed music. He will be remembered as an old soul that was very outgoing and loved socializing with everyone.
Charles will be deeply missed by his best friend and significant other of 12 years, Rhonda Goers of Davenport; children: Charlie Thomas Jr. of Davenport, and Shavette Daniels of Huntsville, AL; step-children: Andrew Shepherd and Shannon Johnson; siblings: Janie McGhee of Rock Island, IL, Martell Bates of Rock Island, IL, John Bruce of Davenport; several grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
