A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sylvia Cone Ince, 5 children, Gloria (John) Shipp, Cindy Compton, Mark Ince, Laura (Michael) Dudley, and Jeff (Lisa) Ince. He leaves behind 15 grandchildren; Mindy Horrell, Chris (Courtney) Compton, Drew (Meaghan) Compton, Katie (Josh) Taube, Sarah (Scott) Fairhurst, Matthew Ince, Molly (Jake) Phelps, Emily Shipp, Alex Shipp, Adam Dudley, Michael (Savannah) Ince, Mason Ince, Jeffrey Ince, Taylor (Konner) Bramlett and Steven Hoskins, as well as 13 great-grandchildren who he dearly loved. He is also survived by a sister, Patsy Wade of Bartlett, a sister Lynda Ince Alderson (Neil) of Reno, NV and a brother, Robert Ince (Pat) of Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by Jeff Compton, husband of Cindy, who he considered to be a son.
A 1953 graduate of Southside High School, Jimmy had a love of flying and began his working career with Dixie Air Associates in 1961. Many years later, he founded River City Tile and Marble and retired in 2014. He was a long standing member of Bethel United Pentecostal Church and most recently attended Hope Presbyterian Church.
He loved all sporting events, especially his Memphis Tigers, and was very active in Parkway VIllage Youth Sports. Of the many things he loved, his family was most important next only to his love for God.
No plans for a service have been determined at this time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association.
